Generic Modem Settings for nbn

Connecting your modem for Solitary Technology nbn internet is designed to be super easy! You generally don’t need to fiddle with lots of technical settings.

Here’s what you need to know about the main settings:

Getting Connected: It Just Happens! (Dynamic IP & No Username/Password)

When your modem connects to our network, it needs an internet address (an IP address) to know where to send and receive information.

Solitary Technology uses a system called Dynamic IP (also known as DHCP or IPoE). This means our network automatically gives your modem the address it needs.

When setting up your modem, make sure the connection type for getting online is set to Dynamic IP, DHCP, or IPoE. This tells your modem to get everything it needs automatically from our network.

You do not need to enter a separate username and password in the modem’s internet settings to connect to Solitary Technology’s nbn service.

Checking Your Modem’s Settings

If you ever need to look at these settings:

  1. Connect: Be connected to your modem’s Wi-Fi or plugged into it with a network cable.
  2. Open Browser: Open an internet browser window.
  3. Type Modem Address: Type a special address like 192.168.1.1 or 192.168.0.1 into the address bar and press Enter. (Check your modem’s label or manual for the correct address).
  4. Log In: You’ll need a username and password to get into the modem’s control panel (this is separate from connecting to the internet itself). Look on your modem or in its manual for these login details.
  5. Find Internet: Look for a section called “Internet,” “WAN,” or “Connection.”
  6. Check Settings: Make sure the connection type is set to Dynamic IP (DHCP/IPoE) and that no VLAN ID is entered.
  7. Save: Save any changes you make.
