What is an AVC ID? Why Do I Need It When Transferring?

This article is for new customers who are joining Solitary Technology and already have an active nbn internet service at their address with another provider.

When you switch your nbn service to a new provider like Solitary Technology, one piece of information that helps make the process smooth is your AVC ID.

What is an AVC ID?

AVC stands for Access Virtual Circuit. Your AVC ID is essentially a unique identifier for your specific nbn service connection at your address. Think of it like a serial number for your internet connection point.

Why Do You Need Your AVC ID?

Providing your AVC ID helps us quickly and accurately identify your existing nbn service connection when you sign up with Solitary Technology.

Using the AVC ID allows us to request the transfer of your service efficiently, often leading to a smoother transition with minimal downtime.

For Fibre (FTTP) and Fixed Wireless Customers

If your nbn connection is Fibre to the Premises (FTTP) or Fixed Wireless, there is sometimes an alternative option if you don’t have your AVC ID readily available or if a standard transfer isn’t preferred.

For these connection types, the nbn equipment installed at your premises (the NTD or Network Termination Device) often has multiple ports. It’s possible to activate a new service connection for Solitary Technology on a different port on your NTD, instead of transferring the existing service connection.

While activating on a different port is an option for FTTP and Fixed Wireless, transferring using your AVC ID is generally the preferred method for a simpler process.

Where to Find Your AVC ID

Your AVC ID is usually listed on a recent bill from your current nbn provider. Look for terms like “AVC ID”, “Service ID”, or similar identifiers related to your internet connection.
